Joe Garceau, head boy’s basketball coach at Roncalli High School, part of Roncalli Catholic Schools, has made the difficult decision to resign. In addition to his coaching duties, Garceau also held the positions of computer and business teacher at the high school, and transportation coordinator for Roncalli Catholic Schools.
Garceau has accepted a position as a business teacher at Monona Grove School District.
“Eleven years ago, a dream of mine came true as I got the opportunity to teach and coach at Roncalli High School,” Garceau said. “Those 11 years have been nothing short of amazing, and I can’t begin to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped guide me to become a better teacher, coach and person. I will never be able to fully show my appreciation to everyone in the Roncalli community, and everyone in the Lakeshore community. The love, support and respect that my family and I have felt in these past 11 years will be something that we forever cherish.” Garceau has been at Roncalli High School since 2011. He led the boy’s basketball team to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Championship in 2022. He also received recognition from the WIAA as “Coach of the Year” in May.
“The last seven years of my life I've given everything I’ve had to be the best basketball coach that I could be, but now I want to try to be the best father/husband that I can be while working on my profession as an educator and I feel like this opportunity gives me the best opportunity to focus on that,” Garceau added. “I want to thank all the parents and players who have trusted me to be your teacher/coach these past few years.”
John Stelzer, Roncalli Catholic Schools president, is appreciative of the time and talents Garceau has given to Roncalli High School.
“We appreciate Joe’s contribution to Roncalli during his tenure,” said John Stelzer, Roncalli Catholic Schools president. “He has made a positive impact on our community and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Roncalli Catholic Schools will be posting a teaching position and coaching position this week.
