Roncalli High School had reason to celebrate Sunday as two of its student-athletes and a coach walked away with honors from the Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards presented by Festival Foods. The event was held at the Lambeau Field Atrium.
Senior Luke Pautz of the WIAA State Championship-winning Roncalli High School boys basketball team took home the award for “Boys Basketball Player of the Year.”
Joe Garceau, Roncalli High School boys basketball coach, who led the team to the championship this year was one of six nominees in his category and received recognition as “Coach of the Year.”
Senior Jena Garceau, a multi-sport Roncalli High School athlete who has managed to cope with health issues this school year, was the recipient of the “Courage Award.”
“We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and Coach Garceau for the work that they have put in during this school year,” said Nathan Kaderabek, Roncalli Catholic Schools athletic director. “We are lucky to have them as representatives of Roncalli High School sports. Each has proven that with dedication and determination you can succeed. We also wish our seniors continued success as they prepare to graduate.”
In addition to the award recipients, Kaderabek; Fran Peter, Roncalli High School principal; and John Stelzer, Roncalli Catholic Schools president, attended the awards presentation.
